The focus of the Prelude Orchestra is for students 8-17 who would like to learn to play the violin, viola, or cello and for students who are learning to read music on their instrument (can be younger than 8 if they have already been taking private lessons)
Intermezzo Orchestra is an open enrollment orchestra for students who have learned to read music. Students from Prelude Orchestra may advance if eligible, in January and September each year.
Prelude
Students in this orchestra will: -learn to read notes on the staff in first position -learn bowing techniques for quality sound -learn 1 octave major scales -learn to listen to each other as they play (ensemble) -learn to watch and follow a conductor -use weekly practice records -play rhythm/music theory games -participate in one performance each semester -receive a discount to SSAC 2016 |
Intermezzo
Students in this orchestra will: -learn note reading proficiency in several keys -learn a variety of music to perform -learn intermediate and advanced techniques -learn proficiency in 2 octave major scales -participate in sectional rehearsals when offered -learn to listen to each other (ensemble practice) -participate in one performance each semester -receive a discount to SSAC 2016 |
*Discount tuition is applied each month after the first month. When all weekly practice records are turned in by the last day of the month, the discount will be applied to the following month.
