This interactive class will teach children an introduction to basic music notation and rhythm, introduce them to the 4 families of orchestral instruments: Percussion, Strings, Winds, Brass, and give them an opportunity to create take home projects, engage in individual and group rhythm games and participate in group ensemble.
Who this class is for: Children ages 6-11 who would like to learn about music and rhythm, participate in group activities, and try their hand at creating rhythm with several fun instruments
The class runs as follows: 5 min -welcome, rhythm & movement activity 20 min -learning activity (binder project/homemade instruments) 15 min -guided free play/rhythm practice on percussion instrument of choice 20 min -ensemble rehearsal
Students in this class will: *create a binder with the fun games we play including their own projects we do in class *make at least three rhythm instruments to bring home *have the opportunity to perform
